Position Overview

The Freedom Kids Director is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the Freedom Kids ministry of Freedom Church. This role exists to create a safe, fun, Christ-centered environment where children can know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make an impact.

The Freedom Kids Director will recruit and develop volunteers, oversee weekly ministry environments, manage curriculum and communication, coordinate children's events, maintain volunteer compliance and safety requirements, and partner with parents and church leadership to help children grow in their relationship with Jesus.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about children, loves Jesus, is highly organized, can lead volunteers, and understands that parents are the primary spiritual influence in a child's life and the church's role is to partner with them.

Reports To: Lead Pastor / Executive Pastor
Employment: Part-Time, Hourly
Expected Hours: Approximately 15–20 hours per week
Additional Hours: Flexible throughout the week based on ministry needs and events

Qualifications

Required
  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Agreement with the beliefs, mission, and values of Freedom Church.
  • Genuine passion for children and families.
  • Ability to lead and develop volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Commitment to child safety and ministry excellence.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Successful completion of required background checks and clearances.
Preferred
  • Previous children's ministry experience.
  • Previous church leadership or volunteer leadership experience.
  • Experience working with children in a church, school, camp, or similar environment.
  • Experience recruiting and scheduling volunteers.
  • Experience with church management software.
  • Experience with children's curriculum.
  • Experience planning children's or family events.

  • Background checks and clearances remain current.
  • Curriculum is prepared and distributed on time.
  • Communication with parents and volunteers is consistent and professional.
  • New families are welcomed and followed up with.
  • Freedom Kids events are organized and effective.
  • Volunteers are being developed into leaders.
  • The ministry is growing without becoming dependent on one person.
  • Children are learning about Jesus and taking steps toward following Him.
  • Freedom Kids is helping fulfill Freedom Church's vision to bring freedom to families, multiply disciples, and impact the community for Jesus.
